About home birth

1/What size house should I have for a home birth?

An apartment or studio apartment can be a suitable place for a home birth. After all, as mammals, we have this natural tendency to give birth in small, cozy, nest-like spaces. The most important thing is to ensure a safe, comfortable, and calm environment where the mother feels at ease during labor. Although spaces such as a spacious living room, a large bedroom, or even a garden or backyard can be used at the beginning of the process, they are not indispensable. The main focus is to create an environment that offers safety and relaxation, where the mother can receive adequate assistance throughout the birthing process, regardless of the size of the house.

2 / Does the house get very dirty during a home birth?

The amount of mess during a home birth is usually minimal and easily manageable with proper preparation. Midwives provide guidance on surface protection and keep the environment clean and safe throughout the process. Additionally, it is common for the birth to take place in a designated area of the home, which makes it easier to clean up afterwards. However, it is important to remember that every birth is unique and unexpected situations can occur. Midwives are trained to handle these situations and ensure a safe environment for both mother and baby.

3 / What happens to pets during home births?

During labor, pets are more than welcome, as for them, the process tends to be very natural, as they are not limited by the same social conditions that we humans face. However, it is essential to ensure that they receive adequate care and attention throughout the process. It is important to guide the team involved in the birth on the necessary care for pets, so that they are also assisted and feel comfortable during this special moment.
